The short answer is yes. But there are many reasons to explain why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s something special about October in Madrid. The hustle and bustle of summer is behind us, the temperatures are perfect for walking, the parks are starting to change colors, and the city regains that mix of street life, culture, and cuisine that defines it so well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

What’s the weather like in Madrid in October?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is probably one of the first questions you\u2019ll ask yourself before packing your suitcase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

October is a transitional month, so it\u2019s a good idea to come prepared for a range of temperatures. The average temperature is usually around 15 \u00b0C, with highs near 20 \u00b0C and nights and early mornings that are considerably cooler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does this mean in practice?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It means that during the middle of the day, you\u2019ll find the weather perfect for exploring Madrid on foot, sitting at an outdoor caf\u00e9, or strolling through a park. Early in the morning and as the afternoon winds down, you\u2019ll be glad you brought a jacket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because Madrid is best enjoyed on foot, and October is the perfect time for just that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With neither the high summer temperatures nor the winter cold, you can head out in the morning and spend practically the whole day exploring the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walking through the Salamanca neighborhood, heading down toward El Retiro, getting lost in the Justicia neighborhood, crossing through Chueca and Malasa\u00f1a, making your way to Gran V\u00eda, and ending the day watching the sunset near the Royal Palace is one of those plans that doesn\u2019t require much planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And in the fall, there\u2019s another draw: Madrid changes colors.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have three or four days, you don\u2019t need to see everything. In fact, Madrid is much more enjoyable when you leave some room for spontaneity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a few places that, if this is your first visit, should be on your itinerary:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prado Museum and the Art Walk.<\/strong> Even if you\u2019re not particularly fond of museums, it\u2019s worth setting aside a few hours to explore one of the world\u2019s greatest art collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Retiro Park. <\/strong>A must-see in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Puerta de Alcal\u00e1 and the Salamanca District.<\/strong> A perfect combination for a morning of strolling, shopping, and dining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gran V\u00eda and the historic center. <\/strong>From Gran V\u00eda, you can continue on to Sol, Plaza Mayor, and the Madrid de los Austrias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Royal Palace and Plaza de Oriente. <\/strong>And, if you can, stay in this area until late afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But we\u2019d also set aside time for something much less structured: simply strolling through Madrid with no specific destination in mind.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if I’ve already been to the most popular tourist spots?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So October might be even more interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can discover small art galleries, pop into unique shops in the Salamanca neighborhood, stroll through the streets of Chamber\u00ed, have a coffee in Justicia, visit one of the city\u2019s markets, or seek out that restaurant you\u2019ve been saving for months for your next visit to Madrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s also a great time to check out the cultural calendar. Exhibitions, theater, musicals, concerts, and a variety of other events fill Madrid\u2019s calendar throughout the fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 2026, the city will also host events such as Hispanidad 2026<\/strong> at the beginning of the month and a new edition of Suma Flamenca<\/strong>, among other cultural offerings. Our advice is to check Madrid\u2019s calendar a few days before your trip. There\u2019s always some unexpected event that\u2019s worth adding to your plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where to eat in Madrid in October?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
